Mount K2 is the second highest mountain in the world at 8,611 meters. It is located on the border between Xinjiang, China, Baltistan, and northern Pakistan. With a peak elevation of the Karakoram Range and the highest point in Pakistan.



K2 is known as the savage Mountain due to the extreme difficulty of ascent and the second highest fatality rate among the eight thousands. With 377 summits and 91 fatalities, about one person dies on the mountain for every four who summit. 

All major climbing routes lie on the Pakistani side. The first climb took place on 31 July 1954. Movies have also been made about this K2 Mountain.
